I wanted to show Peter alone. At the end of the story, everyone is gone from Neverland and Peter is so stubborn that he won't go back to reality with Wendy, even though they both care for each other very much. He does come back for her once a year in the spring, but what does he do until then? I sort of felt sorry for Peter at the end of the novel. He's very special, he has much more than any other child; going on adventures, being able to fly. But these things come with a price, if he leaves Neverland, they will go away, Peter will have to go to school, and grow up. Even so, he is so set in his ways that he won't be with the one he cares for, and is very much alone. His "biggest pretend."
I don't think I quite explained how I felt there, I hope the painting speaks for itself.
I depicted Peter Pan as he was in the 2003 live action movie. Jeremy Sumpter looked more like the Peter I invisioned than Disney's stupid green-costumed Peter with the feather in his hat. A lot of the detail was lost in the resizing though, which I regret. I painted this on a fairly large scale/resolution, I'd like to have a print made.
Comments and crit encouraged because I'm trying some new things in Photoshop, trying to make it more like real life painting.
oooh i LOVE peter pan! especially that film! (not the cartoon though, even though that's ok as well) unfortunately i just found out that the reason peter was created was because in ww1 there was a boy called George something-or-other and he died so someone he knew made the story about him - the boy who never grows up i thought that was really sad sorry to be depressing
i must to say that i hate Wendy soooo much!!! No way does she deserve to spend time in Neverland with Peter charming. The fucking bitches, she leaves him there too!!! Who would leave him seriously? Though he taught her to fight and to fly, they have fun and a cute little tree house... HE LOVED HER! i mean, did you see the way he looked at her? Aww, and that kiss?! And she gets married to a diffirent man aswell what a slag. Ergh, fuck off Wendy!!!
I love Neverland to a scale where I even go there when I dream. This is an excellent painting and I felt the same sort of pain at the end of the book when he was left all alone out of his own stubbornness but, at the same time, If peter left never land and grew up, it would die. I relate on a very personal level to Peter and Neverland. If you ever make this a large print I'd defiantly buy it.
It really captures the Neverland I always wanted to visit as a child. As a "real life" painter, I'd say that you are well on your way to achieving your goal. Fantastic job!
